Vegan Pupusas With Salsa Recipe. Pupusas are from indigneous people of El Salvador and Honduras originating from pre colonial times (2000+ years ago). I served my meal with pickled onions and avocado. Pupusas are a thick corn griddle cake. This homemade recipe reminds me of the street carts in New York. Pupusas are like a savory pancake that is made softly with a special hand technique. Maseca flour is a white grainy flour that forms into patties when mixed with salt and water. Customize to your liking filled with cheese, refried beans, pepper, meat, or vegetables.
